This week the bench was all about heads. Some sculpted from scratch, some sculpted by my buddy orobus and painted here, plus one digital sculpt still finding its colors before it ever sees a printer. Here is what has been under the brush.
D'Spayre, Designed and Painted by Me
This one is mine start to finish, I sculpted D'Spayre myself and then painted it. The palette is almost entirely black and white so the red eyes do all the talking. Close up you can see the cracked, skull-like texture on the face and the grin, that panel line work is all done freehand with a fine brush.
Akrillo, Still a Digital Sculpt
Akrillo is still a digital sculpt, not printed yet. I am blocking in color options in Nomad before this ever hits a printer, teal and green skin with yellow fangs so far. Did two versions, mouth closed and mouth open with the red interior showing, trying to decide which reads better as a display piece before I commit to a print run.
TDKR Joker, Sculpt by Orobus
This Joker head sculpt is from orobus, I painted it up in that Dark Knight Returns white suit and purple vest look. Green hair, that unsettling grin, and the little knife in hand to finish the character off. If you want a custom head sculpt painted onto your own figure, that is exactly the kind of build we take on as a commission.
Henry Cavill Superman, Sculpt by Orobus
Another orobus sculpt, this one is a Henry Cavill likeness in the black and silver Superman suit.
Retro Long Haired Superman, Sculpt by Orobus
Same black and silver costume, different head sculpt, this one has the longer retro hair. Good to paint two takes on the same character side by side this week and see how differently the sculpts read once they are both finished.
