Press Play: Spider-Man Brand New Day Trailer Drops as Doomsday Ticket Mania Begins

The biggest week in superhero news in months landed all at once. A new Spider-Man trailer, Doomsday tickets going live, a major X-Men casting report, and the Superman sequel rolling cameras.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Gets a New Trailer and a Savage Hulk

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Gets a New Trailer and a Savage Hulk

A new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day dropped Thursday, but you almost certainly did not see it the way it was meant to be seen. It played exclusively in theaters ahead of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and has not gotten a proper online release yet, which means the version making the rounds is a leak. The trailer sets the scene four years after No Way Home, with Peter living a life where everyone, including MJ and Ned, has forgotten who he is. Two big new moments stand out: Bill Metzger from the Department of Damage Control is clearly going to be a thorn in his side, and the Savage Hulk shows up declaring that there is no Banner left, only Hulk. The film hits theaters July 31.

Avengers: Doomsday Tickets Go Live Monday - Fans Are Already Bracing for Server Crashes

Avengers: Doomsday Tickets Go Live Monday - Fans Are Already Bracing for Server Crashes

Advance tickets for Avengers: Doomsday go live Monday, July 20, and based on the fan reaction online, nobody is expecting this to go smoothly. The comparison everyone keeps reaching for is Endgame in 2019, when Fandango and AMC Theaters both buckled within minutes of the presale opening due to the sheer volume of traffic. This time around theaters are also rolling out Infinity Vision screenings, and not every location will carry that format, which adds a whole other layer of stress to the ticket hunt. Doomsday hits theaters December 18 with the Russo brothers back at the helm.

Adam Driver Reportedly Cast as Magneto in the MCU X-Men Reboot

Per scoopers @MyTimeToShineH and @ApocHorseman, Adam Driver has been tapped to play Magneto in the upcoming MCU X-Men reboot. Driver is 42, which lines up with reports that this version of the mutants will skew younger and that Magneto will serve as an older, imposing threat rather than a peer. Jake Schreier is directing, and the movie is targeting a 2028 release. An official cast reveal could come as soon as this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel Studios is returning to Hall H. Nicholas Alexander Chavez from Grotesquerie is also reportedly being considered for Cyclops.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow Starts Filming with Brainiac and Lex Luthor as the Threat

Superman: Man of Tomorrow Starts Filming with Brainiac and Lex Luthor as the Threat

James Gunn confirmed via Variety that Superman: Man of Tomorrow has started production, sharing a set photo of a chess board alongside a Van Kull Prison badge for inmate A. Luthor. The sequel puts Clark in the uncomfortable position of teaming up with his longtime adversary Lex Luthor to take down a threat bigger than either of them: Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. David Corenswet returns as Superman, Nicholas Hoult is back as Lex, and the film is targeting a July 9, 2027 release. The chess board on set feels like a deliberate signal that Lex is playing a longer game even while behind bars.
