Tech Thursday: Tripo's AI 3D models just got production ready

A grab bag of AI and tech news worth your five minutes this week. One of these could change how you model, sell, or sound online, so here is what happened and what it actually means for a maker, a small creative business, or a collector.

Tripo P2.0 finally gives AI 3D models clean, edit-ready topology

Tripo P2.0 finally gives AI 3D models clean, edit-ready topology

Tripo AI released P2.0, a new model that generates 3D assets with native quad mesh topology instead of the messy triangle soup AI generators usually produce. That might sound technical, but it is the difference that matters most to anyone who actually prints or animates these files. Quad topology is what sculptors and riggers already expect, so a model coming out of Tripo now needs far less cleanup before it can be sliced for printing or posed for animation. The update also adds Mesh Edit, which lets you regenerate just one part of a model instead of starting over, and it can now take up to four reference photos of an object to rebuild its shape more accurately. For anyone prototyping custom sculpts or figures digitally before committing to a print, this cuts a real chunk of the fiddly cleanup step out of the process.

ElevenLabs' Eleven v4 makes AI voices sound like they mean it

ElevenLabs' Eleven v4 makes AI voices sound like they mean it

ElevenLabs shipped Eleven v4, its most expressive text to speech model so far, along with a faster Turbo version built for real time use. The model reads tone and context well enough to sound dramatic, tender, urgent, or comedic depending on what the line calls for, and you can nudge it further with simple tags like marking a line as whispered or said with a laugh. Voice cloning now needs just ten seconds of sample audio to produce a convincing match, and the model holds a voice's identity across more than ninety languages. If you narrate product videos, read character lines for a diorama showcase, or want a believable voiceover without hiring a studio, this closes a lot of the gap between AI narration and a real performance. ElevenLabs is also running the new models at half price on OpenRouter through October 19, which is worth knowing if you are testing voice tools on a budget.

Universal Music and ElevenLabs are building a licensed AI remix platform for fans

Universal Music and ElevenLabs are building a licensed AI remix platform for fans

Universal Music Group signed a multi year deal with ElevenLabs to build a platform where fans can remix, mash up, and reinterpret songs using AI, with artists opting in track by track rather than handing over their whole catalog. It is ElevenLabs' first deal with a major label, and it covers both the licensing and the platform itself, which is still being built with no launch date yet. For anyone making fan art, custom pieces, or content tied to musicians and their fandoms, this is an early sign that the music industry is choosing to license AI remixing instead of fighting it in court, which could open the door to more official fan made content around the artists people already collect and commission work for.

Shopify Canvas lets you redesign your store by chatting with it

Shopify Canvas lets you redesign your store by chatting with it

Shopify launched Canvas, a new tool that lets merchants redesign their store by describing what they want in plain language to Sidekick, Shopify's built in AI assistant, and watching the store update live. It shows every page in one workspace, applies real theme changes rather than a mockup, and still lets you click into any element to tweak it by hand. It is desktop only for now and does not yet support every theme, but the point is clear: a solo shop owner can reshape layout, sections, and design without hiring a developer or learning to code. For a small creative business running its own storefront, that is a meaningful drop in the cost of keeping a store looking current.

That's Tech Thursday

That's the tech and AI news that actually matters for creators this week. Want it turned into something physical? That's what the studio does. See you next Thursday.
